This year, participation was probably about double that of last year...and I made a grand appearance (heehe) as "Ginnie Moon", a real-life hoopskirt smuggler, spy, and sometimes courier...for men like General N.B. Forrest!
I didn't go into that part of her life at all, only briefly actually talking about her, as I was giving a first person speech (as her) about hoopskirt smugglers. I had several written accounts by other women which I read for the benefit of my listeners (that sounds so priggish :D)...and then proceeded to do something that for a lady of that time would have been down right SHOCKING...
Yes. I lifted my skirts!!
Anyway...the day was fun and I enjoyed listening to all the other presentations as well...ranging from world religions to poison dart frogs and WWII aircraft...and turbos...and stories...quite a spread. The music performed (and later jammed) was delightful. :) So was the food....
It's always great to see friends and fellowship...and learn...and eat...and jam...so it was a good day, even if it did require getting up a lot earlier than usual. :) I'm looking forward to next year's event already!
