Room Remodel

10/2/2014

I spent a greater portion of the day digging into corners of my room that have not been touched in...years. You know what? I even vacuumed the ceiling fan.  That has needed doing since I got up here last September. (And yes, I am admitting to my lack of housewifery skill--or maybe not lack, but ignoring of them.)

Not only did I clean, I rearranged. Now, I don't think it was all that long ago when I rearranged before, but I never was fully satisfied with how things were.

Sooo...I moved the bed (thank-you, KT for helping with that!). I moved the table. I moved the treadle machine. I moved my clothes rack (switched the double rack back out for the single). This was on top of moving the dresser, the vanity, the cat box, and the Victrola for cleaning behind. (Those things went back into place.) I do believe the only thing I did not move in my room was the bookshelf, though undoubtedly that could stand dusting behind as well. (I did not want to take all the books off...)

The end result? Something I'm more happy with (for now at least).

One view from the head of the bed (ignore my feet...this was an odd shot to try to capture.)

The other view from the head of the bed. The closet door's frame can be seen just over the top of the clothes rack. What cannot be seen is the bookshelf and dresser.

And yes, I'm going to have to get some curtains back up there sometime soon (I hope). I like curtains.

A very contented fat cat sniffing the breeze through the open window. As Curio is deaf the vacuum doesn't bother her. I was pleased with how well Runty handled it with it being on and off all day.
I meandered outdoors later on and ended up scooping horse poop and straw for a future cabbage bed. When I went out I could barely move, but I guess I just needed a wee bit of exercise, because once I actually started working, it wasn't so hard.

Which brings up a strange, odd, "Lyme thing" (or at least I think it's a Lyme thing) that I have recently noticed in such a way that I think I can actually articulate it.

I often find myself not starting something (from washing the dishes to reading) because I feel so do-less; and yet, if I force myself to take that first step, such as walking to the sink and turning the water on, I find that whatever "it" is, is really not that hard and that I can do it after all.

Hmmm...said like that, it sounds like nothing more than plain ol' laziness. However, I do think it's a little something different, I do not tend to shirk work. I generally actually enjoy it...so anyway. That's my weird "Lyme thought" for the day.

Oh yes, the other thing I did today was rack up an almost $250 shopping cart. I haven't actually dropped the dough yet, but I AM going to get those bee supplies here sometime soon! (And with the shipping costs, I'm expecting at least a $300 bill--and that's just for the supplies. Oh well...)

    The Middle Kid

I chose to title this blog "The Adventures of a Middle Kid" because that is exactly what I'll be detailing (mostly). I chose 'kid' over any other word, like 'girl' (I am the middle girl so it also would have worked) or 'child'
(since I am no longer exactly a child).

    I am a middle kid and I will always be a middle kid--even when I'm 80!
