Savannah's Birthday!!

4/11/2013

Yep, my big sister reached the quarter century mark today...

Daddy took us to a seaside resturant for lunch. After a nice little lunch that set me slightly 'off' in the head, we continued on to the beach. We walked down the beach for several hours...I think. I had my nose to the surf most of the time looking for shark's teeth since Daddy said this was a good place for them (one of his uncles and aunts had lived there). I found upwards of 10--most of them in fairly smoothed down shape. Daddy found a saltwater catfish's head up on the beach someplace and pulled the spines off it and I added them to my collection of sharks teeth and shells that I just couldn't pass up--you know how it is. :)

Then we walked back along this nature path...both Savannah and I were barefoot and that sand in places was so hot! We would scurry along to the next patch of shade under a two foot high cabbage palm or clump of sea oats.

I have flat feet you know, and walking in dry soft sand tends to make my feet hurt in what little arches I do have, so by the time we got back to where the car was, I was limping a bit. Anyway, I had a great deal of fun and got one awesome sunburn. Savannah said at one point, "I don't think you're burned too bad." Well, after supper I pranced into her room to show her and she went "Oh! You did get burned pretty bad!" Oh well, I know how to deal with it. Sunburn and I are old acquaintances. ;)

However, I'm sure you'd like some pictures... :)

Daddy was observing something...but I don't know what. There was a lot of old hurricane damage out on this island.

After Savannah's hat blew off and got wet, she started putting shells in it.

I might have been showing her a shark's tooth...

Daddy found a dead crab...I had to pose with it! :D

That's the bottom side of tree. Someone had put shells all over the roots--natural art!

Seagulls...they were just sitting there.

Little crabby sitting in a hole! He was maybe 3/4" long.

Savannah was quite pleased with the birthday present Mum and Dad got her--a Puritan Hard Drive!
All in all, I think Savannah had a pretty good birthday--even though this tadpole didn't get her anything! I didn't even have a real paper card, so I sent her an e-card this morning! Shame on me! (At least she got a card!)

Oh well, I'm payin' for me crimes with a hot red neck. ;)

    The Middle Kid

I chose to title this blog "The Adventures of a Middle Kid" because that is exactly what I'll be detailing (mostly). I chose 'kid' over any other word, like 'girl' (I am the middle girl so it also would have worked) or 'child'
(since I am no longer exactly a child).

    I am a middle kid and I will always be a middle kid--even when I'm 80!
