I worked him in the circles and random turns at a faster rate again today. I can tell my legs are getting stronger when I can go for 15 minutes straight without sucking air between my teeth because my inner thighs hurt. Also, I'm overcoming my long habit of kicking with the wrong foot (see yesterday's post). Snip is really getting that (told you he ain't dumb...I've only been really working on that for three days!)
Once again, I did not quite get a lope out of him. He canters (I guess that is what it is), which is almost as fast but feels rather lopsided. I wonder if he's getting off on the wrong lead? I did not have to fight him quite as much today. I'm happy about that, but there is no way I'm going to get excited about it. What I'm more happy about is that I'm feeling a little more confident.
After lunch I took care of the week's feed run. I didn't go last week, but that was fine because I really had no need to, but I ran out of chicken feed this morning. I also gave Charlotte her last bottle...she is not overly happy about that, but she is eating sweet feed so she'll get over it.
By the time I got to our place to work on fence, it was already 2:30 or so...and as you know (most likely) the heat of the day. No matter, ol' stubbornness here plugged away until shortly after 5. Rest assured, dear reader, that I did take many breaks, sitting in the shade and drinking increasing warm water. I got another stretch of chainlink down; the hardest part about that was getting the corner posts out because the amount of cement around them and I was so hot! After I got them out, I rolled my sleeves up which helped some.
I built two and half H-frames and planted another single post. At this point, I think I'm going just finish planting all the posts in this area and then string the wire (I'll also tighten the stuff I did back in March). After that I'll move around to the back. By the way, I watched Abe come across a section on the east side of the yard--he flattened it out a bit more.
We moved the chickens when I got home and Savannah was so kind as to wash the dishes for me so I could go shower. Now, I think I'll mosey into her room and see if she's ready for prayers. :)
